Will Serfort (ウィル・セルフォルト Wiru Seruforuto) is the protagonist of Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria and a student at Regarden Magical Academy. He is unable to use magic and relies on physical abilities to win his battles. His goal is to reach the top of the Mercedes Caulis and reunite with his childhood friend/love interest Elfaria Albis Serfort. After graduating from Regarden Magical Academy, he joins the Thunder Faction: Thorzeus Fasce.
Appearance[]
Will has purple/blue eyes and messy black hair with a long ahoge. He usually wears his uniform consisting of a white shirt, black pants, a bolo tie, and student robe along with his glasses. When he goes to the dungeon, he wears clothes made by Rosti consisting of a striped shirt, black pants, two belts, black gloves, a shorter robe than his usual one, and the goggles given to him by his childhood friend Elfaria. Whenever he fights, he pulls down the goggles over his eyes.
Personality[]
Will is hardworking, honest and diligent in addition to his friend Colette mentioning him to be kind. He desperately tries to not fail in the academy due to his childhood promise with Elfaria of becoming Magia Vander and seeing the sunset atop the tower. Although he doesn't fight back when people make fun of him for being unable to use magic, he once questioned whether he needed to save Sion, who was bullying him, nevertheless he decided to do so anyway so he could be worthy of Elfaria. Despite this he admits during his fight and argument with Sion that he did have a grudge against him and got revenge in his mind many times over. He has been shown to compliment others without any ulterior motive, causing Colette to become embarrassed when he described her as cute. Because he is unable to use magic, he knows what it's like to be at rock bottom, and uses that knowledge to help his allies, such as when he encouraged Wignall and helped him get over his fear and inferiority.
History[]
Will and Elfaria were left outside the Serfort Orphange as infants, and grew up together along with their other adopted siblings that were taken care by the head, Ashley Serfort, who gave all the children there the name "Serfort" as part of the family he had made. When they were 5 years old, they decided on an important promise to reach the top of the Tower and see the sunset that awaited at the very top of the sky. At 10 years old, he received a recommendation letter along with Elfaria to head to the Regarden Magic Academy, and they left the orphanage, beginning their journey to go and see the sunset together.
Final Year at Regarden[]
The bullying from his professors and fellow students persisted, particularly from Sion Ulster and Professor Edward Serfence. However, he was able to befriend fellow student Colette Loire, his roommate Rosti Naumann, his carbuncle familiar Kiki, the headmistress Caldron Anouve, and his mentor Workner Norgram.
While he failed to get a single credit in spellwork and his standing remained unsteady, Will was nevertheless able to gather enough credits to reach his sixth year.

Being both orphans, Elfaria and Will developed an unbreakable bond since they met, both being the first and only love of the other, something that Elfaria does not hesitate to openly proclaim, seeking to drive away any girl who approaches Will. For his part, Will has worked hard to stay by her side, despite not possessing magic. Like Elfaria, Will's feelings for her have made him capable of defying almost all the beliefs of the wizards of his generation, this with the sole objective of being able to remain by her side.
Colette Loire[]
Like Elfaria, Colette has strong feelings for Will, unfortunately for her, he only sees her as his most precious best friend, always willing to lend a hand in any way he can.

Abilities[]
Wis: Will has a unique ability known as Wis, that allows him to absorb spells and load into his sword, turning it into a magic sword. He can only maintain this state for 50 minutes. It was later revealed that his body hoards and stores up magic but is unable to release it normally.
- Ignis Wis: When Sion cast his "Ignis Rooks" spell and fired it at him, Will was able to absorb its flames and infuse them into his sword. He then used the fire-imbued sword to slice an Evil Grand Duke monster in half with ease. This technique also turns Will's eyes red.
- Prime Pathos: After training with Ceridwen, Will Serfort is now able to load spells from thoughts, emotions, feelings, and memories, although this consumes more magic power and is harder to maintain as it is coming from him rather than an outside source.
- Limit Off: A state that turns Will's hair and body white, drastically increasing all of his abilities to the point where he was able to destroy the army of monsters in the Terminalia Festival in an instant, and defeat the Devende, a creature infamous for killing Magia Vander.
High Physical Abilities: Since he can't use magic, Will Serfort trained his body instead, and is able to easily deal with monsters with his physical abilities. According to Workner, Will Serfort has a superhuman strength unbefitting that of a mage, he is robust like a Dwarf, has the insight to completely grasp an enemy's movements just by seeing it once, even in the heat of the moment, and his sword slashes surpass lightning.
Dungeon Knowledge: Will is shown to be great knowledgeable about the dungeon, knowing things that even Wignall hadn't seen or heard about. Due to not being able to use magic, he is also skilled at dungeon survival.
Familiar: Will owns a familiar with a jewel on its forehead named Kiki (

Moria's Silver Sword (モリアの銀剣): An anti-magic sword. It was destroyed in the battle against the Devander.
Wist-Set Silver (?): A sword crafted for Will by Donnan. It was crafted from his old broken sword but with a wist gem added to it. It has a violet blade, can cut through magic spells and also enhance Will's magic due to the wist gem.
Rosti's Quality Battlegarb (ロスティ謹製の
Promise Goggles (約束のゴーグル): Goggles that were given to him by Elfaria before she left Regarden. They represent Will's promise to reach Elfaria at the top of the tower.
